Inspiring views trail

5th March 2017, 10:30 - 13:00

This free, guided walk will follow the new trail especially created by ifootpath for the ‘Inspiring Views’ project.  Surrey Hills Arts manager Ali Clarke will lead the walk and talk about the project en route.  We will see ‘Perspectives’ by Giles Miller, ‘Contour’ by Russell Jakubowski and ‘Xylem Voices’ which is an additional bench that sculptor Walter Bailey has created for Alderbrook Estate.  We can also hear the specially commissioned poetry and listen to the sound tracks at each piece.  The walk is 5.5 miles long, includes some stiles and is steep in parts.

Please dress appropriately for the outdoors, depending on the prevailing weather conditions on the day. The walk will happen in any weather.

Meet us at Car Park 5 in the Hurtwood at 10.30am for a prompt 11am start.  This car park is on Winterfold Heath Rd (also called Greensand Lane). Exit the A25 (Dorking to Guildford Road) at Shere village and head south on Hound House Road. After about 2 miles, fork right onto the road signed to Winterfold. Take the next right (Winterfold Heath Road), a narrow lane which contains many of the car parks managed by the Friends of the Hurtwood. You will pass car parks 4, 12 and 13 – keep going until you reach Car Park 5 on the left-hand side.

Booking is essential. For bookings, further details and enquiries, contact us at info@surreyhillssociety.org or on mobile 07530-949302.
