A guided walk from Denbies to Ranmore jointly with Investec International Music Festival

10am for a 10.30 am start – 1pm

 

This guided walk, organised jointly with the Investec Music Festival, sets out from Denbies Wine Estate, taking in gorgeous views across the vineyards and offering a special opportunity to visit the ‘Cathedral in the Woods’ at Ranmore where musicians will be waiting to delight us with a musical interlude.

The church itself is of interest having been designed by George Gilbert Scott.  The walk will be led by our Chairman, Gordon Jackson.  On arrival at the church, a cup of coffee/tea will be available, followed by the music performance.  During the visit, there will be volunteers on hand to answer any questions you may have about the church as you look around.  The musical festival organisers have arranged for us to be entertained by some of the very gifted musicians from the Yehudi Menuhin School – a young string quartet who will perform for us Mozart’s ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ (approx 20 mins).

We will assemble at Denbies in front of the building from 10.00 am for a prompt departure at 10.30.  The walk is approximately 1 ½ miles but is quite steep in parts with some uneven surfaces.  After the concert, we will walk back to Denbies and aim to arrive by about 1 pm.

Please wear strong footwear and appropriate clothing for the prevailing weather conditions.  This event is not suitable for dogs or children.

For those not able to manage the walk, there is the possibility of joining the event at the church at about 11.15 am to hear the concert.  Please indicate on the booking form if that is what you intend to do.

Tickets are £8 which includes coffee, music performance and a donation to the church.

Cancellation by Member
If you wish to cancel your booking please email our Coordinator at info@surreyhillssociety.org.  Any fee paid will be non-refundable, although the Society may in its entire discretion authorise repayment of all or part of the fee if, in the opinion of the Society, there are reasonable circumstances justifying the cancellation. If there is a waiting list for the event and adequate notice of cancellation has been given, our Coordinator will try to find a replacement booking and the Society may in its discretion refund all or part of the booking fee if the Coordinator is successful.

Cancellation by the Society
The Society may in its absolute discretion cancel any event by giving notice to the person, who has made the relevant booking. In such circumstances the booking fee will be fully refunded. The Society rarely cancels events, but it is sometimes obliged to do so due to circumstances outside its control or if insufficient interest is shown in an event.

Participants are requested to wear appropriate clothing and footwear and take due care and attention. The Society uses photographs for our social media and on our website. If you are not happy to have your photo taken during this event, please notify us in writing prior to the event and make the event organiser aware on the day.
