SUMMARY:Visit to Grayshott Pottery
DESCRIPTION:?? Grayshott Pottery is situated just on the Surrey - Hampshire
border near Hindhead.? It was established in 1956 and emerged from the ol
d Kingwood Pottery in Brook\, with connections to Compton Pottery\, which
was started by Mary Watts\, wife of the great Victorian painter\, G. F. Wa
tts. Under their Surrey Ceramics brand\, they make bespoke ceramics for ce
lebrity chefs and catering ware for many national high street pubs and res
taurants. The company is run as an Employee Benefit Trust\, which gives al
l other staff a direct\, personal share in the business and its success. T
he Society has booked visits on two dates - Wednesday 8th February and Tue
sday 7th March - since the scale of the pottery means that tour group size
s are limited.? Our visit will start with arrival between 12.30pm - 1.00pm
with an optional (pre-booked) lunch being served at about 1.00pm.? Shortl
y after 2pm\, the group will split into two with one group heading off on
the guided tour.? After about 15 minutes (just time for a quick look in th
e shop?) the second group will start their tour.? At the end of the tours\
, there will be time for you to return to the Kiln Caf? for further refres
hments or to have a long wander around their extensive shop ? and maybe pu
rchase collectors pieces or catering ware seconds made on site. Due to the
scale of the business and the number in a tour group\, we need to pre-boo
k our lunches with payment on the day.? Please note that if you book lunch
and then fail to attend\, the Society will have to pay for your meal.? It
is therefore essential that you let us know if you have to drop out.? We
have been offered a special menu deal of a hot meal with tea/coffee for ju
st ?10 or you can select from their normal menu.? The list of dishes is at
tached to the booking form and we request you to mark your selection when
booking. This event is not suitable for dogs or children.? Walkways throug
h this working pottery are narrow so the event is not suitable for those w
ith walking difficulties. The cost of the event (excluding lunch at your o
wn cost) is ?5 for members and ?7 for non-members. Booking is essential an
d you need to indicate which of the two dates you are selecting.?If you wo
uld like to join us would you please complete and return the downloadable?
slip below (in blue letters) to arrive at Warren Farm Barns before Wednesd
ay 1st February 2017.? Please include your e-mail address or a stamped add
ressed envelope so you may be sent full details\, directions and locations
for the visit. BOOKING FORM For further details and enquiries\, contact u
 s at info@surreyhillssociety.org or on mobile 07530-949302.
