The Fox Way is a 39-mile circular route around Guildford Borough, divided into seven connected stages, all with public transport access. It was created by local walker Richard Fox and published as a booklet in 2005. Its popularity is shown by the fact that it is now marked as Fox Way on Ordnance Survey maps.
We will be following part of the route between Links 6 & 7 (Worplesdon & Wanborough).
Our starting point will actually be Guildford Friary Bus Station where we will take the 10.10 bus (Route 28, Falcon) to Worplesdon (Combe Lane bus stop almost opposite St Mary the Virgin Church). We then follow part of the Fox Way as far as Normandy. Our gentle 3.5 mile walk will end with an (optional) visit to the Community Cafe at Manor Fruit Farm.
As it says on their website ‘Our Cafe is a place to enjoy a good lunch, a tasty coffee, meet friends and family, A light airy space with a vibrant bubbly atmosphere, everyone is welcome as we are dog friendly and child friendly from the ground up!’ Certainly, when your walk leaders have visited on previous occasions, that has been a true description of the café. Good food and drinks, a lively atmosphere and plenty of space – including outdoor seating.
Stay as long as you like before catching a bus back to Guildford (every 20 minutes, route 20, Stagecoach). The bus stop is at the junction of Glaziers Lane and Guildford Road, A323, less than 10 minutes stroll from the cafe.
