Join us for a guided walk through this extensive nature reserve, which is owned by the MoD and not normally open to the public. The reserve is a large open area of heathland with gently rolling hills and fantastic views. It is a spectacular site in late summer when the heather is in bloom.

Join the Vice President of Surrey Hills Society, Chris Howard on this leisurely summer walk around this fascinating Arts & Crafts gem hidden in the Surrey Hills. This free, 2 mile walk includes a visit to the unique Arts and Crafts Chapel created by Mary Watts, wife of famous Victorian artist, G F Watts. We will also pass by the couple’s beautiful Arts and Crafts home designed by Sir Ernest George, which was completed in 1891.

We are delighted to have been invited to make a return visit to Pratsham Grange garden, a 5 acre garden in Holmbury St Mary, by the owners Alan and Felicity Comber. The garden, which is divided into three sections, has a distinct mathematical order to it each section having its own flavour, yet feeling very much part of a unified design.

Enjoy a guided tour of The Great Barn at Wanborough, which is one of the largest and most important medieval barns in south east England. It was built in 1388 by the Cistercian monks of Waverley Abbey. We will also visit the surrounding hamlet including the 13th century church and explore the exhibition that covers 10,000 years of history on this historic site. From the founding of Waverley Abbey, to the dissolution of the monasteries to the Great Barn today, we will enjoy a captivating historical insight, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits in the Great Barn.

Join us on this linear walk along the North Downs Way from Guildford to Dorking via St Martha’s Chapel as part of the Guildford Walkfest celebrations. The Surrey Hills Society Events Team will be leading this sponsored walk, which has been organised to raise funds for the important work done by Guildford’s Street Angels.
