Join the Chairman of the Society, Gordon Jackson, for a moderately easy walk of about 4 miles from Pirbright Village through some of the neighbouring heathland and exploring the beautiful Brookwood Cemetery. We will also visit the Brookwood Military Cemetery maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Paula & Laurence Matthews of Manor Farm at Wotton have kindly invited us to spend a day seeing and learning about the challenges of running one of Surrey’s largest farms so close to London, in populated areas and within the Surrey Hills AONB. Apart from their arable and beef farming you will hear about their educational work, conservation activities and about the Red Tractor Farm Assurance scheme with which they are heavily involved. The visit will include a walk around part of the estate, talks, coffee on arrival and lunch.

For this tree identification walk we will be walking through varied scenery which will take in beech woodland and open chalk grassland finishing with clay farmland where we will encounter a variety of trees, shrubs, wild flowers, fungi and ground cover plants.
