27th February 2025, 14:00 - 17:00
For more than 50 years, Circle Eight – Guildford’s Award-Winning Film Makers – have specialised in the production of local interest films that feature the History, Legends and Folklore of Guildford and West Surrey.
We have arranged for them to show two of their most popular films for you to enjoy – “Surrey Tales” and “The Mayors of Guildford”.
“Surrey Tales” includes an aerial tour of West Surrey villages in search of some fascinating Legends and Folklore. Some of the areas covered are, Ash, Ripley, Box Hill, West Horsley, Pirbright, Send and East Horsley.
The Second film is “The Mayors of Guildford” It tells the story of some of the more interesting and notable Mayors of the Borough from 1362 to date. Since the first Mayor of Guildford, the role of the town’s first citizen has been held by over 600 people, including our very own Chairman, Gordon Jackson. Here is a chance to learn about some of the distinguished, successful, philanthropic, scandalous, barbaric and devious citizens that have held the office down the years.
In between the films, we will enjoy tea/coffee and cakes and if you do have any dietary requirements please note these in the comments box when booking.
The hall has wheelchair access and disabled toilets, so those with mobility issues are most welcome.
No dogs please.
The cost for the day will be £9 for members and £12 for non-members which includes all refreshments..
Deadline for booking 21 February 2025
