Join the Chairman, Gordon Jackson on this one and a half hour 3.5 mile circular walk around Frensham Little Pond and its vicinity.

The walk is relatively flat with sandy paths and classed as moderate. Our precise route will depend on weather conditions but there are always dry paths as most of Frensham Heath is well-drained with good sandy paths.

Frensham Little Pond covers an area of 55 hectares and is now managed by the National Trust. The pond itself is man-made and was created when a dam was built in 1246, to provide fish for the Bishop of Winchester’s estate.

The dam was built of ironstone from the Farnham area. The pond and adjacent heathland are home to a rich variety of native and migratory birds.

The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, characterised by shimmering waters, lush woodlands, and rolling heathlands. The path meanders around the pond, providing breathtaking views of the tranquil water surrounded by mature trees.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walk. Children under 18 years must be supervised and it really is not suitable for a pushchair or wheelchair.

There will be some walking uphill, but the walk will mostly be on level ground.  Appropriate footwear and weatherproof clothing is essential.

Join us afterwards at The Tern Café at Frensham Little Pond. This is an outdoor café, run by the National Trust, where you can enjoy looking at wildlife on the pond. Very popular with dog walkers.

The cost is free but you must book your ticket by pressing the brown button below.
