24th August 2018, 15:00 - 16:30
The Patchworking Garden Project was established in 2014, on the northern edge of Dorking with views to Box Hill, to bring positive change to people’s lives through the benefits of friendship and gardening. Our garden guide, Susie Turner, who also actively volunteers for our own Society, will welcome you to an exclusive tour of this original 2 acre walled garden.
The garden provides a sanctuary for people with physical or mental health conditions, learning disabilities, dementia, isolation or bereavement. We will have a guided tour of the site and learn more about this valuable project. The garden has a rich variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables; the visit will include raised beds, a polytunnel, a prairie and bog garden as well as a newly constructed pond.
We will be treated to tea and cake – an integral part of each session in the garden — and (hopefully) the chance to enjoy the summer sunshine.
Please wear sensible shoes and either hats / coats or sunscreen to deal with our summer weather.
This event should be suitable for those with minor mobility issues but please contact us in advance to discuss. The event is less likely to be of interest to children, although they are welcome, as are small dogs on a lead.
Full details of meeting and parking arrangements will be sent with booking confirmations. You may also wish to know that Dorking railway station is within easy walking distance of this venue.
The Surrey Hills Society member’s ticket price for this event is £6 which includes a donation to the Patchworking Garden Project and afternoon tea. The non-members price is £7.
Booking is essential. This event is limited for logistical reasons to 16 people and if you would like to join us, please book your spaces online at the bottom of the page or alternatively complete and return the downloadable form here below to arrive at Warren Farm Barns before Monday 20th August 2018.
