Grayshott Pottery is situated just on the Surrey – Hampshire border near Hindhead.  It was established in 1956 and emerged from the old Kingwood Pottery in Brook, with connections to Compton Pottery, which was started by Mary Watts, wife of the great Victorian painter, G. F. Watts.

Under their Surrey Ceramics brand, they make bespoke ceramics for celebrity chefs and catering ware for many national high street pubs and restaurants. The company is run as an Employee Benefit Trust, which gives all other staff a direct, personal share in the business and its success.

The Society has booked visits on two dates – Wednesday 8th February and Tuesday 7th March – since the scale of the pottery means that tour group sizes are limited.  Our visit will start with arrival between 12.30pm – 1.00pm with an optional (pre-booked) lunch being served at about 1.00pm.  Shortly after 2pm, the group will split into two with one group heading off on the guided tour.  After about 15 minutes (just time for a quick look in the shop?) the second group will start their tour.  At the end of the tours, there will be time for you to return to the Kiln Café for further refreshments or to have a long wander around their extensive shop – and maybe purchase collectors pieces or catering ware seconds made on site.

Due to the scale of the business and the number in a tour group, we need to pre-book our lunches with payment on the day.  Please note that if you book lunch and then fail to attend, the Society will have to pay for your meal.  It is therefore essential that you let us know if you have to drop out.  We have been offered a special menu deal of a hot meal with tea/coffee for just £10 or you can select from their normal menu.  The list of dishes is attached to the booking form and we request you to mark your selection when booking.

This event is not suitable for dogs or children.  Walkways through this working pottery are narrow so the event is not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

The cost of the event (excluding lunch at your own cost) is £5 for members and £7 for non-members.

Booking is essential and you need to indicate which of the two dates you are selectingIf you would like to join us would you please complete and return the downloadable slip below (in blue letters) to arrive at Warren Farm Barns before Tuesday 28th February 2017.  Please include your e-mail address or a stamped addressed envelope so you may be sent full details, directions and locations for the visit.
