18th October 2025, 10:30 - 15:00
This year we are delighted to be holding the meeting at Myrtle’s Courtyard on the Hampton Estate, with whom the Society frequently works on conservation activity.
Our members will not only be able to meet our Trustees and hear about the work of the Society during the past year but also hear from James Windridge, who is Head of Farming at Hampton Estate.
The morning will begin at 10.30 am with light refreshments of tea or coffee with the formal business of the Annual General Meeting starting at 11.00 am. Details of the AGM can be found here.
The AGM will be chaired by our Chairman of Trustees, Gordon Jackson who will present the Trustees’ report for the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.
Our Treasurer, Martin Cantor, will then present our Annual Accounts for the same period.
After the AGM James Windridge will talk to us for about an hour. James is committed to conservation, agriculture and regenerative systems aligning with the Estate’s broader mission for biodiversity, soil health and sustainable land use. He will also explain about the exciting long term plans of the Estate to restore and enhance nature whilst running a working farm.
We will then enjoy a buffet lunch with sandwiches and finger food.
After lunch, there will be an optional walk of no more than an hour to explore the Estate. The walk is relatively easy.
Please wear appropriate clothing and we suggest stout footwear as there may be some muddy patches in places.
Hampton Estate spans 2,250 acres of rich and diverse habitats. The Estate is home to the Hampton herd of pedigree Sussex beef cows.
The Estate rears their cows with a regenerative ethos, as certified Pasture for Life producers. The Estate woodlands extend to 1170 acres and comprise a mix of commercial conifer, chestnut coppice and broadleaf plantations. In addition we will hear about the many activities that the Estate undertakes as part of a wide diversification necessary to maintain a working farm.
Toilet facilities are available.
If you just wish to attend the AGM the cost is free but must be booked by choosing the AGM ONLY option.
Cost to members is £20 and the cost to non-members is £25.
