Enjoy this pleasant, fairly flat, 2 hour (4 mile) walk around one of Guildford’s pretty villages.
The route is a mix of rural and developed areas. Highlights include parts of the old Lovelace Estate, including Horsley Towers, once owned by Sir Tommy Sopwith, who designed the Sopwith Camel aircraft (among many others during WWI & II). This historic house is now a hotel and conference centre.
Our route will pass numerous attractive “Chown houses” which were individually designed and built on former Lovelace Estate lands.
We will also cheat by crossing the boundary into West Horsley where our return leg takes us close to West Horsley Place as we head into the rural parts of the estate before returning to our start in East Horsley.
