Learning about bats with Surrey Bat Group

11th September 2023, 18:00 - 20:30

Dusk Walk and Talk with Surrey Bat Group

Monday 11 September 2023

6pm – 8.30pm

Join bat experts Ross Baker and Lynn Whitfield from Surrey Bat Group to hear about the lives of the only true flying mammal. Bat species make up almost a quarter of UK mammal species, with 18 species present in the UK..

Ross and Lynn will deliver a presentation covering the life history of bats, species found in the UK and Surrey as well as their conservation. They will also teach us how to use bat detectors before we head out for a stroll to see what we can find.

We will meet at Albury Old Saxon Church at 6pm for tea, coffee and biscuits and the presentation will start at around 6.45pm.

We will then head out at dusk (approx 7.30pm) for about an hour before returning to the church at around 8:30pm.

Please wear suitable footwear and dress according to the weather conditions.  Please bring a small torch if possible, as it will be dark when we return to the church.  You may wish to bring an extra layer and a waterproof if it’s raining.

This event is not suitable for pushchairs. Children are welcome but anyone under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult/parent/guardian. This event is not suitable for wheelchairs and sorry, no dogs allowed.
