The National Garden Scheme is a charity that raises funds by privately owned houses opening their gardens in England and Wales to raise funds for worthwhile causes. It was founded in 1927 in England with the aim of “opening gardens of quality, character and interest to the public for charity”. The scheme has raised over £50 million since it began, and over half a million garden visits occur each year. When the scheme began 609 private gardens were opened and £8,191 was raised. See www.ngs.org.uk for more details. The COVID -19 crisis has affected this important charities work, as this pandemic has for so many. This event is in aid of the NGS charity.
