Talk and Walk over Pewley Down
Date: Saturday 25 September 2021
Time: 11.00 am start
Finish approx: 12.30pm
Join broadcaster and mental health advocate Jake Tyler on an inspirational walk from the Castle Grounds in Guildford to Pewley Down. Jake has written a book which was published in March this year called “A Walk From The Wild Edge”. Jake has a regular show on BBC Surrey and Sussex, “Open Up with Jake Tyler”, which launched in 2019. His TedX talk, “I’m fine” has received more than 3 million views.
Now in his 30s Jake has struggled with mental health problems all his life. After a bad period of depression, he decided to take back control of his life, and with only a pair of walking boots and a backpack, he left his old life behind and began a 3000 mile walk around Britain.
Jake will talk about his book which chronicles his extraordinary journey, the places he visited, the people he met, the big, honest conversations he had, and how he finally started to see a more positive future.
The walk will be approximately 1hr 30 minutes and will be no more than 3 miles long. The walk up to the Down is quite steep but on a made up road.
This walk is open to all moderately fit walkders and there will be frequent stops along the way. There may be muddy sections if there has been a lot of rain and appropriate footwear is essential. Please bring sunscreen lotion if required.
Well behaved dogs welcome on leads for the walk.
Tickets are £5 and must been booked online using the brown button below.
