Brightleigh Farm visit followed by a BBQ

Thursday 14 August 2025

1pm – 4.30pm

Nigel Franklin and his family have invited the Surrey Hills Society to their farm in Outwood, near Redhill.

On arrival, tea and coffee will be available before the afternoon starts with an introductory talk by Nigel. He will then lead us on a guided walk around the farm which will take approximately 90 minutes. There will be stops along the way where Nigel will be happy to answer any questions. You may like to bring a shooting stick or portable seat to use whilst listening to Nigel.  On return from the walk, there will be a BBQ featuring their produce served in their large Cattle Barn.

Brightleigh Farm is passionate about farming with nature, using regenerative farming methods, producing tasty and nutritious food. Their animals thrive in this environment, and rarely need any form of treatment to keep them healthy.

Their beef comes from their Pasture for Life certified cattle, which guarantees that they are100% pasture fed. Pasture is better for animals. Compelling scientific research shows animals fed on pasture are less stressed, live longer and are more fertile than those farmed intensively.

Their chickens forage outdoors, supplemented with a soya and GM free diet.  The eggs they produce are high in vitamins A , E and D, as well as Omega 3 and will be available to purchase on the day.

Nigel will also tell us all about his Rare Breed, Ethically Reared, Soy Free Pork.

We will then make our way to the Cattle Barn which will be set up for our BBQ.  There will be a choice of home made beef burgers, smoked topside baguettes, chicken wings, and for any vegetarians, cheese ???, all served with salad.  There will also be a choice of soft drinks.

Brightleigh Farm stall can also be found at various Farmer’s Markets in Surrey where their produce is sold vacuum packed, fresh or frozen. Their pork and chicken is seasonal and their beef is available throughout the year.  There will be the opportunity to purchase the various produce from the farm.

After our meal, there will also be the opportunity to visit the Batts Hill Gin Distillery, which is on the farm, and purchase some of their produce as well !!
