Explore Chilworth to Gomshall
Free guided walk
Sunday 6 March 2022
Meet at Chilworth Railway Station
at 10.30 am for a prompt 11am start
Approx finish at 2.00pm

Join the President and Vice President on this linear Rail to Ramble walk exploring the pretty Tillingbourne Valley in the heart of the Surrey Hills, near Guildford.

During 2020 the Surrey Hills Society supported a project being led by the Surrey Hills AONB, Great Western Railway and the Southeast Communities Rail Partnership to create a series of walks along the North Downs line from Guilford to Betchworth. On this walk we will be exploring the Chilworth to Gomshall section. The walk is slightly longer than our usual Sunday walks and does contain several steep hills. Therefore, this walk is only suitable for relatively fit walkers.

It is also a linear walk from station to station and we will be returning via train. Alternatively, you could organise to leave a car at each end of the walk, or there is a bus service operating as an alternative to the train.

We start our walk from the historic village of Chilworth but immediately start to climb up towards the sandy heaths of Blackheath and then down into the picturesque village of Shere, where we can stop for a break before continuing on to Gomshall station for the return journey.

N/A   Please bring your own refreshments for the journey or purchase them in Shere.
