Come and join our Chairman, Gordon Jackson who has organised a private tour of The Surrey Copper Distillery given by the founder, Chris Smart. Hear about the specifically designed gin still and the distilling process and enjoy a tasting with a takeaway gift.
The Surrey Copper Distillery is an independent craft distillery, which was founded in 2017 by the Smart family and is a member of Surrey Hills Enterprises. Managing Director, Dr Chris Smart, has a PhD in biochemistry and is a qualified distiller. His wife and co-founder, Professor Catherine Smart has a PhD in brewing and a DSc in Brewing and Distilling. She is a qualified distiller and taster of spirits.
Working together with their daughters, Emma and Sarah, they make a distinctive library of spirits inspired by history and reflecting the very essence of England. Their stills are made of Copper and have been designed and made to create unique flavour and aroma combinations. The ingredients they use have been carefully selected to provide the very best spirit flavour and aroma experiences to delight you.
The gin still at The Surrey Copper Distillery is very special. She is a 300 litre Mini Carterhead designed specifically by one of the world’s leading craft distillery manufacturers, Green Engineering of Italy. Green Engineering not only bring a tremendous amount of technical expertise to still design, but as craftsmen with typical Italian flair also produce beautiful stills.
The inclusive cost will be £15.00 for members and £17.50 for non-members, which includes a tasting with a takeaway gift
