Join Surrey Hills Society and the National Trust at Box Hill for a guided visit to learn about the Burford Spur Nature Recovery Project.
Following the auction of the Surrey Hills species artworks, we promised all those that purchased an artwork that we would organise a trip to Box Hill to look at the nature recovery project that was funded by the proceeds of the auction.
We are now extending this invite to Society members and volunteers.
This project is focused on increasing species diversity on The Burford Spur, to see the return of chalk grassland species such as bee orchids and horseshoe vetch, as well as butterfly species such as the Small Blue and Chalkhill Blue.
It is thought that excessive trampling, erosion and rabbit populations have reduced species diversity in the area. The National Trust has been working hard to minimise disturbance and encourage species recovery through several incentives.
This guided visit will explore what they have done so far and what they hope to achieve over the next few years. The distance of the walk will be around 1 -1.5 miles.
Cost: This event is free but please book your space online by clicking the brown button below.
Parking: Box Hill National Trust Car Park. We will then walk to the Burford Spur from there.
Further Information: Please wear suitable footwear as it is uneven terrain, as well as suitable clothing for being outside at this time of year.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
