Visit to Tollsworth Manor

28th July 2021, 14:00 - 17:00

Wednesday 28 July 2021

2pm – 5pm

Tollsworth Manor is a Grade II* listed building located near Chaldon, Surrey. Our visit will start in the Great Hall, with a talk and pictures to tell us about the owners of Tollsworth Manor since 675AD, including its use as a Monastic Farm with links with Merton Abbey. After its later use as a Youth Hostel, it was transformed back to its full glory by the current owners.

We will also learn about the structure of the building itself and how it has grown through the years. The gardens, which for 11 years was opened as part of the National Garden Scheme, have been planted to provide a spectacle during the summer months.

We will then split into two groups to take a tour of the house and to explore the beautiful gardens, before finishing with a question and answer session over a cup of tea and some cake.

The Manor and its garden is opened to support cancer charities and in particular St Catherines’ Hospice, and the price includes a donation to this cause.

Please note that the Manor House has a steep staircase, uneven floors and low ceilings with uneven pathways in the garden. This event is not suitable for young children or dogs. Please bring clothing suitable for the prevailing weather conditions (e.g. wet weather clothing, strong shoes, sun hat, as necessary).  Toilet facilities are available.

This event must be booked in advance and numbers are strictly limited due to the room sizes. Face coverings should be brought for wearing inside the property.

The cost for the visit will be £15 for members and £17 for non-members and includes tea and cake.

If government advice alters prior to the event, we may implement changes or cancellation at short notice.

At this time we are taking online or telephone bookings only. We are currently not able to accept postal bookings.  Any enquiries please contact us at or on mobile 07530 949302.
