Come and join us for our annual walk to blow the cobwebs away after the Christmas festivities.
The walk will take us around Denbies Hillside. The walk is about 4 miles long and includes some steep slopes, with the reward of some excellent views.
Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking is one of England’s largest single estate vineyards. With 265 acres currently under vine, it has a production capacity of 1 million bottles.
The first vines were planted on the estate in 1986. We will also pass through Ashcombe Woods, recently purchased by the National Trust and added to the Polesden Estate portfolio.
These woods are made up of oak, holly, silver birch and yew trees, with some areas of heath and rough pasture. There is a diverse community of breeding birds, insects and beetles, which includes the satin raise moth and white admiral butterfly. We will gain some excellent views across Dorking from the top of the North Downs
This walk is suitable for those with a reasonable level of fitness.
You must be able to manage a 4 mile (moderate) walk with some steep uphill gradients that may be slippery if wet.
This walk is unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Dogs are welcome but will need to remain on the lead.
Toilets and a cafeteria are available at Denbies Vineyard at the start and finish.
Please dress appropriate to the weather conditions (eg hat/warm fleece/waterproofs) and strong footwear is recommended and it may be muddy in places.
The event is free but booking is essential. If you wish to join us, please register by using the brown button below and full details will be sent to you nearer the time.
