To support Guildford Book Festival, which takes place during October, Guildford Walkfest is pleased to include a walk based on our local writers and their works.  Surrey Hills Society’s Vice Presidents Chris Howard and Ken Bare will lead this walk.

Authors ranging from John Donne to Lewis Carroll have lived within what is now the Borough of Guildford whilst numerous other writers have included the area within their texts. This walk will take a gentle wander around the town, stopping off at various locations to point out the literary associations and to learn a little more about the people who wrote about them.

The town centre has many places for you have lunch or a drink if you wish to book for both the morning and afternoon walks.

Please note that the SHS morning walk in support of the Book Festival is a separate chargeable event which needs to be booked via its own web listing here.

This event is not suitable for dogs, children or pushchairs or anyone with mobility challenges.

The event is free but must be booked using the brown button below.
