Netley House is set in the beautiful Netley Park an 18th Century gentleman’s estate nestling into the North Downs. The house is a Grade II listed building and is owned by the National Trust, although it is not open to the public. During the First World War the house was used as a hospital and in the Second World War it was occupied by the Canadian Army. We will be able to see the mansion from the footpath running through the parkland.

The surrounding estate has stunning views and we will visit the Robertson War Memorial Obelisk which was built following a bequest to the National Trust by William Robertson, who died in 1937, to fund a memorial within reasonable reach of London in memory of his two brothers that died during the First World War.

The walk is on the slopes of the North Downs and is steep in places. Although the walk is mainly on chalk paths some tracks can get very muddy if there has been prolonged rain so appropriate footwear is recommended.  If sunny, please use sun protection and bring plenty of water.

Well behaved dogs welcome on leads.

The walk will finish in Shere which has a number of pubs and restaurants.

Length of Walk: 3 miles

Time: 10.30am prompt start
