urrey Hills Society’s Growing Together team are inviting everyone, this half-term come along to our nature-themed family event with hands-on activities and crafts for all ages!
This family-friendly event will include a variety of activities, nature-based crafts including bee hotels making, planting in our community garden, walks for all abilities and the chance to ride on the Denbies Wine Estate Land Train at a heavily discounted rate.
Stalls open: 11am – 2.30pm
Crafts and activities: 11am -2.30pm
Long walk (6.5km): 2pm – 4pm
Short walk (2.25km): 2.30pm – 3.30pm
Land Train rides: 2pm – 2.50pm and 3pm – 3.50pm
The location of the stalls is on a mainly flat and even surface.
On the day there are two walking tours: a long walk which will take you up to see the sweeping views over the Mole Valley and down from Ranmore Common. This walk includes steep inclines, uneven terrain and has steps. Walking boots, suitable clothing for the weather and a bottle of water are recommended.
The short walk is a led stroll around the vineyard and a brief stretch on the North Downs Way, using largely well surfaced tracks with gentle inclines.
Book your space on our woodland hikes, following some of the North Downs Way or a ride on the Denbies Wine Estate Land Train to take in scenic views of the Surrey Hills and beyond – both free for National Lottery players!
Children should be supervised by their accompanying adult at all times.
All money raised from this event will go directly towards Surrey Hills Society’s conservation and access work in the Surrey Hills National Landscape.

Option 8 for joining the nature-based crafts and activities – free
The first 50 attendees will all be offered a reusable goody bag, that contains exclusive discounts for Denbies’ shop and café, a nature fact sheet, information about further activities in the Surrey Hills and some stickers for your young people.
Accessibility
Try out a range of wheelchairs and mobility aids with Cinque Ports mobility! We will be offering two “safaris” around the vineyard using mobility aids designed to tackle difficult terrain. To be the first to be able to book this experience, please email volunteering@surreyhillssociety.org. If you have a condition which means you may benefit from trying a variety of chairs, please indicate this in your email and we will give you a priority space.
There are toilets, including a disabled toilet, available in the main building at Denbies.
There is plenty of free parking available and there are a number of disabled parking bays.

Directions: Denbies Wine Estate can be accessed by car, train and bus. Dorking Deepdene and Dorking Main stations are a 5-10 minute walk away and there is a bus stop just outside Denbies.
The Surrey Hills Society’s Growing Together project has allowed a wider audience to enjoy, learn about and help conserve the Surrey Hills National Landscape and has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
