7th July 2019, 11:00 - 12:30
Join the Vice President of Surrey Hills Society, Chris Howard on this summer 2 mile (3.2km) walk around this stunning part of the Surrey Hills, with great views over Gatton Park, once home of the Colman family, of Colman’s Mustard fame.
We will start from Reigate Hill car park, where there is a nice café for those who get there early. We will then walk a short section of the North Downs Way national trail before entering the National Trust and Gatton Trust estate to enjoy views of this 18th century Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown designed garden. There are a few small hills to climb up and down and the ground can be slippery when wet due to the chalk, so stout foot wear is recommended.
You may wish to combine this walk with a visit to the Gatton Trust Summer Fair to be held at Gatton Park on the same day (7thJuly). See www.gattonpark.com Entrance for adults is £7.00 Children go free. The Surrey Hills Society has a stall at the show so do come and join us there.
Meet us at the Reigate Hill Car Park, Wray Lane RH2 0HX, Grid Ref: TQ262523 from 10am for a prompt 11am start and 12.30pm finish. There will be an optional drink at Wray Lane café afterwards. Well behaved dogs welcome on leads as there are live stock in the area.
Our walk is free and open to all reasonably fit walkers, but please book your place at the bottom of the page so that we know you’ll be joining us.
