23rd September 2022, 11:00 - 13:00
Join our President, Chris Howard and Vice president, Ken Bare to explore the historic Gomshall area, just outside Guildford.
Once the site of a major tanning industry, from at least the 14th century it has now become a pretty Surrey Hills village but remnants of its industrial past remain.
We will start with an optional coffee at the café at Marquis Caravans. The walk then heads out into the Surrey Hills to enjoy the splendid views of the North Downs before returning to Gomshall for an optional lunch back at Marquis Caravans cafe.
We will pass many ‘chocolate box’ houses and cottages along the way as well as learning about some of the other industries that flourish along this stretch of the Tillingbourne.
This is an easy walk of one and a half hours and approx 4km. Please note that you will need to be relatively fit because there are a few hills to climb but no stiles.
Good walking shoes are recommended. Please bring rain coats if appropriate, wear sunscreen and bring plently of water if it’s hot.
ThIs event is not suitable for children and/or pushchairs or those with mobility challenges.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
