Passionate about Glass

17th November 2022, 15:30 - 17:00

A visit to Adam Aaronson Glass Studio in Leatherhead

17 November 2022

3.30pm – 5.00pm

You may recall that our previously arranged visit in 2020 had to be postponed due to Covid.  We are delighted that Adam is now able to open his studio and our visit has been rescheduled.

Our group will be given a demonstration of decorative glass blowing by renowned Surrey Hills artist Adam Aaronson.

Adam Aaronson’s love affair with glass began almost 40 years ago and his passion for this most unpredictable and seductive of artistic mediums remains undimmed today.

Adam’s art is inspired by the ceaseless mutability of light on the landscape, sky and water, with the idea of change as a continual presence also a major theme.

Glass is the ideal medium to express these concepts since its properties are inherently mutable, not only in its molten state but also in the way the play of light creates endless nuances in the finished piece.

In addition to the many individual pieces that Adam has created, Adam worked with Mary Branson to create New Dawn, which hangs above the entrance to St Stephen’s Hall in the oldest part of Parliament. This artwork was revealed one hundred and fifty years to the day after the campaign for women’s votes began and celebrates all the individuals involved.

We will visit Adam’s Glass Studio in Surrey, where he will create an artwork for us and give a talk during the demonstration about the basic techniques that he uses.

The cost will be £15.00 for members and £20.00 for non-members, which includes light refreshments of tea or coffee.

This venue is wheelchair accessible but this event is not suitable for children, pushchairs or dogs.

Deadline for booking 10 November 2022.
