Talk on Chilworth Gunpowder Mills
Come and enjoy an afternoon listening to the history of the Gunpowder Mills industry based at Chilworth, just outside Guildford.
It is hard to believe that this now picturesque idyll, in the middle of the Surrey Hills, was once a hive of industry, smoke and activity.
Ken was a volunteer with the Heritage Lottery Funded, Surrey Hills ‘Tales of the Tillingbourne’ project which researched many of the ancient mills and industries along the Tillingbourne Valley.
He has since gone on to research other Gunpowder factories and has now created a fascinating new talk based on his research.
After Ken’s talk we will enjoy an afternoon tea including sandwiches and cake.
This event is not really suitable for children and no dogs please.
The cost will be £8 for members and £10 for non-members which includes all refreshments.
Please note any dietary requirements in the comments box when booking.
