Join our Chairman, Chris Howard, for this free event to learn more about the fascinating industrial heritage of the Tillingbourne River. Chris will be showcasing a recent Heritage Lottery Funded project called Tales of the Tillingbourne, which included working with local schools, community groups and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to bring to life the history of this once heavy industrialised area.
The free event will start at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and include a walk along the River Wey to the National Trust’s Shalford Mill. Meet us at 10.30am for a prompt 11am start at the Theatre, Millbrook, Guildford GU1 3UX.
Please bring stout walking shoes and appropriate walking gear for the weather. The walk is flat and 5 miles long. Dogs on leads welcome. We will finish by 1.30pm by the Society’s stall held on the town bridge for the day in celebration of the Heritage Weekend.
Booking is essential. If you wish to join us, you can book your free space online, or if you need any further details, please contact us at info@surreyhillssociety.org.
