14th June 2018, 10:00 - 16:00
Join the Chairman of Surrey Hills Society, Chris Howard, and Judy Brua from East Surrey Ramblers, on this 11 mile, linear walk from Reigate to Warlingham. This is a joint walk with Mole Valley and East Surrey Ramblers. This walk is in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the North Downs Way being designated as a National Trail. We are supporting the North Downs Way Manager, Peter Morris, in his mission to get every part of the North Downs Way walked as part of the celebrations.
This is a glorious section of the North Downs Way, with fine views, and passing through beech woodlands and chalk grasslands. We will be following the Downs, as they head east towards Kent, passing through historic Gatton, viewing through some wealthy residential areas, crossing under the M23 before enjoying distance views of Caterham. We will pass by a vineyard at Godstone and then enjoy views over towards Oxted.
Meet us at Reigate Hill car park, Wray Lane, RH2 0HX (Grid ref: TQ262523) at 9.45am for a 10am start. We will finish at Botley Hills Farmhouse Pub at Limpsfield Road, Warlingham CR6 9QH around 4pm. There is no public transport from finish, but lifts may be possible if you call Chris Howard in advance on 07879 841000.
Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water. Appropriate footwear and weatherproof clothing are essential.
The event is free and open to all reasonably fit walkers but please book your place here below. This is a Surrey Hills Society event being co-organised by East Surrey Ramblers.
