A circular walk up onto and along the Hogs Back, with views to the north and the south. We return via Wey meadows and take in several lesser-known historical features along the route.
This walk takes us through some residential areas leading up to The Mount, via Guildford Cemetery where we see some of its special features, before heading along the ridgeline to the Hogs Back, views to the north and a visit to the Kernow Stone. Crossing to the other side of the ridge, we return along paths with stunning views to the south from above the North Downs Way before heading down to the Wey by St Catherine’s Chapel and crossing Wey meadows to return to our start point.
A reasonable level of fitness is required since the route up to the cemetery and the Hogs Back is fairly steep. Good walking shoes are recommended.
Length of Walk: 5 miles (8km)
Good walking shoes are recommended and wearing long trousers at this time of year as there are lots of nettles and brambles. Please bring rain coats if appropriate, wear sunscreen and bring plently of water if it’s hot.
ThIs event is not suitable for children and/or pushchairs or those with mobility challenges.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
