Active Inclusion Hike – Gomshall to Guildford

Surrey Hills Society is leading and facilitating an 8-mile hike from Gomshall station to Guildford station for Active Inclusion, the UK’s biggest Muslim hiking group.

 

 

 

 

As we have 100 participants from Active Inclusion already taking part, there are only limited spaces left!

The hike will be approximately 8 miles including some challenging climbs. We will be meeting at Guildford station and hopping on a short 15-minute train to Gomshall where the hike will start. There will be a stop for lunch at popular viewpoint Newlands Corner, please bring a picnic to enjoy (a café is also on site, but this can get busy). The hike will conclude back at Guildford station where you can make your journey home or enjoy the scenic town.

As the Society is leading the hike, we expect all Society members to wear a high vis jacket and to assist with the hike.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet likeminded hikers & adventurers from across the country and enjoy a scenic social hike whilst discovering the North Downs way and beautiful Surrey Hills countryside.

Schedule for the day:
10.45 Meet on the platform at Guildford Station
11.13 Train to Gomshall
11.30 arrive at Gomshall Station & safety briefing
11.45 hike begins
14.30 (approx.) lunch at Newlands Corner – please bring your own picnic
15.15 hike continues.
18.00/19.00 hike finishes at Guildford station

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY

Walk distance: approx. 8 miles
Walk duration: approx. 6 hours
Difficulty level: Moderate/Challenging – come prepared for a hike with some steep inclines.

This walk is an 8-mile linear walk, with steep climbs, descents into deep valleys and steps. It covers much of the North Downs Way and passes some wonderful viewpoints.

Please don’t start this walk without suitable footwear, clothing, or provisions. At least 2 litres of water are essential.

In the event of train strikes or extreme weather, this hike may be modified or cancelled. Please check your registered email frequently before the hike for updates.

Please note that toilets are limited but can be found at Guildford Station and Newlands Corner.
