Join the Chairman of Guildford’s Walkfest for this 4½ mile (7km) walk around the magical woods of Albury, Albury Saxon Church and the historic and popular village of Shere before returning to Albury Heath for an optional picnic.

The Grade 1 listed Albury Saxon Church dates from the Anglo Saxon period. It has been used in many movies and TV series including “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, and “Hornblower”. Shere is one of the Surrey Hills’ most popular villages – with tourists and film companies alike. St James Church in Shere also appeared in “Four Weddings and a Funeral” as well as “Bridget Jones – Edge of Reason”, and “The Wedding Date”.

We will stop to explore Shere and enjoy a coffee or ice cream before returning to Albury Heath, where participants can stay on for a BYO picnic (weather permitting).

There is one fairly steep decent and ascent during this walk, so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Please note that there are no toilets available at the end of the walk. Public toilets available in Shere.

Well behaved dogs welcome on leads.  This walk is not suitable for children or those with mobility challenges.  Please dress appropriately for the current weather conditions.

From the A25, travelling from Guildford, turn right onto A248, then after 600 yards, left on to New Road. Car park is on right after about half a mile.

The event is free but must be booked using the brown button below.

On the day mobile phone – 07879 841000.
