Description of walk: The rarity of the ancient yew trees at Newland’s Corner makes it one of the most important sites for these precious trees in the whole country. Many of the trees have stood on this site for over a thousand years and they play a vital role in the local ecosystem as well as being enjoyed by many visitors every year. More information about “The Yew Tree Project” may be found here
On this short leisurely walk, you will be led around the recently upgraded woodland trail with the opportunity to see the yew trees in all their glory. Your Surrey Hills Society guide will be on hand to tell you more about the importance of this site and the surrounding area.
At the end of the walk there’s a chance to have refeshments at the Newlands Corner cafe or the Plucky Pheasant cafe on the opposite side of the road.
