Start time: 10.30am for refreshments
11.00am start of walk
Finish time: 1pm

Join our President and Vice President, Chris Howard and Ken Bare, as part of Heritage Open Day weekend to explore some unusual historic buildings hidden in the historic village of Shalford, just outside Guildford.

Thanks to Shalford Parish Council, we have been granted special access to their unusual Victorian Gothic Chapel of Rest.

We will also explore the story behind the National Trust mill and take a peek at historic St Mary’s Church.

This is a relatively flat, easy 2 hour walk of approximately 5 miles (8km) along the Wey canal with no stiles to the historic village of Shalford.

Good walking shoes are recommended and wearing long trousers at this time of year as there may be nettles and brambles.  Please bring rain coats if appropriate, wear sunscreen and bring plently of water if it’s hot.

ThIs event is not suitable for children and/or pushchairs or those with mobility challenges.  However, if you do have mobility challenges and would like to join us at the Chapel of Rest which will be accessible by wheelchair, please contact Chris on 07879 841000.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Meet: Yvonne Arnaud Theatre , Millbrook Guildford

Guildford is well serviced with both bus and rail connections and the Yvonne Arnaud theatre is close to the town centre, just past the old Debenhams building.
