12th February 2024, 12:00 - 14:30
We will enjoy a guided walk lasting for around 1½ hours around this Grade I landscaped garden which stands in 158 acres.
We will see how the Park has been designed by the Honourable Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773 so we can “walk around a work of art” and discover dramatic follies, calming waters and stunning views including their snowdrop displays.
The garden historian Tim Richardson states that Painshill is regarded as one of the foremost and finest creations in the visual arts of gardening. The garden was visited by the second and third US Presidents.
The Crysal Grotto which is made up of 10,000 crystals is shut to the public on Mondays but our tour will include this fascinating space which sparkles as it reflects the lake water.
There is a 14 acre serpentine lake which sits in the heart of the landscape and is crossed by bridges built in different styles. It is man-made and was created by rising water from the River Mole by means of a waterwheel.
This walk is classed as Easy – a sedate walk at a relaxed pace with frequent stops and no steep inclines.
Following our tour we will enjoy tea/coffee and there will be a choice of a variety of cakes.
The tour is suitable for children and pushchairs. Those with mobile challenges are welcome and please let us know when booking.
Dogs are welcome.
Cost to Members: £19.00
Cost to Non-members: £23.00
The cost includes entrance fee and refreshments and please state any dietary requirements in the comments box when booking.
The park now has its own vineyard producing Sparkling Wine which can be purchased in the gift shop where we will enjoy a 10% discount.
Deadline for booking 6 February 2024.
