SHS Annual General Meeting with optional Arts & Crafts talk and tour of Abinger Common

12th October 2019, 10:30 - 11:30

You are invited to the Surrey Hills Society’s Annual General Meeting to be held at Evelyn Hall, Abinger Lane, Abinger Common, Dorking RH5 6HZ.

The morning will begin with the formal business of the Annual General Meeting when our Chairman, Gordon Jackson will give his Report for the period from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019 and the Treasurer, Martin Cantor will present our Annual Accounts for the same period.  Other updates on the Society’s progress will follow.  For detailed information see our website

After the AGM and coffee there will be a separately booked event at the same location.  If you are coming to both the AGM and tour and talk, please tick both options on the booking form.

The Arts & Craft Movement for Surrey will give us a short talk on the Arts & Crafts Movement in the Surrey Hills.  The south west corner of the Surrey Hills is known internationally as the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the Arts & Crafts Movement, as so many famous Arts & Crafts architects worked in this area at the end of the last century.

Following an optional lunch at the local pub (or you could bring sandwiches to eat on the Common), we will then visit St James’ Church on the Common, before enjoying a short walk to view the exterior of the famous, Lutyens designed Arts & Crafts house, ‘Goddards’.  Everybody booking will be sent an optional lunch menu.
