Visit to St John’s Seminary – FULL

16th February 2019, 14:00 - 16:00

A guided visit to learn about the history, the buildings and the work of St John’s Seminary at Wonersh.

St John’s Seminary was built by the Diocese of Southwark in 1891 as a Seminary for the training of priests. It was designed by F.A. Walters in the Dutch Jacobean Style. Walters was a prolific ecclesiastical architect and also responsible for the local Catholic churches in Dorking, Godalming, Haslemere and Chilworth. The Chapel was completed in 1896 and the building extended in the 1960s. Today it continues its work of priestly formation, taking students from the South of England and beyond. It was the location of the Hastings Royal Hospital for the TV series Foyle’s War.
