Albury Vineyard is the result of founder, Nick Wenman’s, passion for quality wine. Nick planted the vineyard in 2009 having retired from the IT industry to fulfil his dream of owning a vineyard.

Nick believes that key to the success of the wines, which have won numerous awards, is the vineyard’s commitment to organic and biodynamic principles, together with excellent winemakers and his talented estate manager Alex, one of the few female vineyard managers in England.

Situated on the southern slopes of the North Downs, the vines are the traditional Champagne varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, as well as some Seyval and Pinot Gris. The vineyard is committed to producing organic fruit without the use of chemicals such as herbicides and fungicides, and they produce an English still rose wine and sparkling wines which are all of the highest quality.

We will enjoy a talk about the vineyard and taste three of their excellent wines. Afterwards we will enjoy a lunch of English cheese and charcuterie.

For those who wish to do so afterwards, there will be the opportunity to enjoy the vineyard’s new wildlife walk.

The trail has been created around the perimeter of part of the vineyard providing a live habitat for birds, bees, flowers and frogs so wildlife can thrive.

The walk features bat and barn owl boxes, bug hotels, bee hives, butterfly scrapes, an insect highway, wildflower meadows to attract pollinators, compost pits, a pond and a surprise feature near the top of the hill.

The walk is classed as easy but some of it is over slightly uneven and hilly ground so is not recommended for those unsteady on their feet and is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Dogs are not permitted on this event.

Cost for members is £37.50 and £42.50 for non-members.  This includes the wine tasting and lunch costs.
