A visit to Vann House garden

9th September 2020, 10:30 - 12:30

Wednesday 9th September 2020
10.30 am – 12.30 pm

We are pleased to have arranged a visit to the garden at Vann House in Hambledon, near Godalming. This is a renowned five acre garden surrounding a Tudor and William and Mary house with Arts and Craft additions, which has been the home of the Caroe family since the early 1900’s and was previously occupied in the 15th and 17th centuries by the Mayors of Guildford.

The garden includes a lake and a yew walk, a crinkle crankle wall and a Bargate stone pergola designed by the Arts and Crafts architect W D Caroe, together with a water garden originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll in 1911 and restored in accordance with her original plant specifications.

The garden featured in the BBC production of Howards End in 2017 and in the film Christopher Robin in 2018.

We will meet at the garden at 10.30 am for tea/coffee and biscuits and will then be free to explore the garden at our leisure.

The cost will be £17 for members and £19 for non-members.

Some of the stone paths are uneven and the garden is not suitable for wheelchairs.  Stout footwear and weather appropriate clothing are recommended.

The event is not suitable for dogs.
