A Visit to Ranmore Church – the church on the North Downs Way

The church is certainly a landmark in the surrounding area and is commonly known as the ‘Church on the North Downs Way’.

“Why is this extraordinary building here apparently in the middle of nowhere?” is a question which often occurs to many visitors.

We have been fortunate to organise a tour of the church when all will be explained. The links to Denbies, the Cubitt family and the architect George Gilbert Scott will all be revealed, as well as the nature of the congregation for whom the church was originally built.

Robin Luff, a churchwarden at St Barnabas, will give us a guided tour of the church and then tea and cake will be served by members of the church community.

In response to requests from some of our members for events which don’t include walking, this is a simple short visit to a very interesting church with some unusual history. It is situated in an area surrounded by beautiful walking country and so, if you do like walking, you could make use of your trip to enjoy it if you can.

The Surrey Hills Artisan Festival is also taking place at Denbies that weekend so you could include that on your itinerary too.

This event is suitable for those with mobility challenges.

Dogs are not permiteed.

Refreshments are included in the price and please indicate in the comments box if you have any dietary requirements.

We will be making a donation to the church.
