Grayshott Pottery tour

27th February 2020, 10:30 - 13:00

Visit and exclusive guided tour of Grayshott Pottery

Thursday 27th February
Start time: 10.30am
Anticipated finish time 12.30pm with optional lunch

Grayshott Pottery is situated just on the Surrey – Hampshire border near Hindhead. It was established in 1956 and emerged from the old Kingwood Pottery in Brook, with connections to Compton Pottery, which was started by Mary Watts, wife of the great Victorian painter, G. F. Watts.

Under their Surrey Ceramics brand, they make bespoke ceramics for celebrity chefs and catering ware for many national high street pubs and restaurants. The company is run as an Employee Benefit Trust, which gives all other staff a direct, personal share in the business and its success.

The Society has booked an exclusive tour but, since the scale of the pottery is quite small, it means that tour group sizes are limited. Our visit will start with arrival and coffee at 10.30am, with an optional lunch being served at about 12.30pm.

At the end of the tour, there will be time for you to return to the Kiln Café for further refreshments or to have lunch in our especially reserved seating area. You can also wander around their extensive gift shop – and maybe purchase collectors pieces or catering ware seconds made on site.

The event carries a £2.00 administration charge and the tour. All your refreshments and lunch are to be ordered and purchased on the day. Please indicate whether you plan to stay for lunch, as we need to reserve the tables in advance. However, you can order and pay for your food on the day.

This event is not suitable for dogs or children. Walkways through this working pottery are narrow so the event is not suitable for wheelchairs.

The cost of the event (excluding refreshments on arrival and lunch at your own cost) is £2 for members and £3 for non-members.

Booking is essential.  If you would like to join us would you please book online indicating if you will be staying for lunch in the comments box or by returning the attached slip to arrive at Warren Farm Barns before Monday 24th February 2020.  Please include your e-mail address or a stamped addressed envelope so you may be sent full details, directions and locations for the visit.
