Surrey Hills, our wooded countryside – illustrated talk

24th January 2018, 14:30 - 16:00

Our speaker for this talk – Ken Bare – is also the vice-chairman of the Surrey Hills Society.  For many years, Ken has been invited by external organisations to be the presenter of wonderfully illustrated talks about The Surrey Hills and the work of the Society.  He recently put together this new talk which focuses more on our extensive woodlands and wooded countryside.  It has been very well received and we have therefore asked him to give a special presentation for Society members and other visitors.

Discover why our countryside looks the way it does, what the importance of walnut and chestnut trees has been in the history of Surrey plus many more nuggets of woodland related information.  Learn about the ways in which woodland management helps to maintain our countryside. Hear about some of the many uses to which our local timber is put.  If you would like to know why the woodlands are such an important feature of the Surrey Hills then this is a talk you shouldn’t miss.

This event is not suitable for dogs or children.

The cost of the event is £6 for members and £7 for non-members and includes tea / coffee.
