Garden visit at Dolphin House

Shackleford

Sunday 25 June 2023

2.30pm – 5pm

We are grateful to Society members, Christopher and Christine Bell, for inviting the Society to their very special garden.

Their two acre garden is surrounded by unusual and special walls reputedly built by Napoleonic prisoners of war.  Chris and Christine have lived at Dolphin House for over 30 years and have worked on creating a peaceful and atmospheric garden with carefully chosen planting, including large herbaceous borders, gravel garden, fruit trees and vegetables.

Dolphin House is sometimes open to the public under the National Gardens Scheme. It has a 13-bay 12′ high crinkle-crankle wall, said to be one of only two of this size in England.  This is a private visit for Surrey Hills Society  and Chris and Christine will be on hand to answer any questions you have.

They have very kindly offered to provide a tea and home made cakes as part of the visit.

For those with mobility issues, please be aware that there are two steps up from the road to the front gate and then extensive gravel paths.

Dogs are not allowed and children are welcome although this event is not designed for them and pushchairs may struggle on the gravel paths.
