Guided tours of Hilltop and the gardens at RHS Wisley

14th June 2023, 10:30 - 12:30

Wednesday 14 June 2023

10.30am – 12.30pm

The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK’s leading gardening charity.  Spanning 240 acres RHS Garden Wisley is both the historic home of the Royal Horticultural Society and a glorious garden of the future, thanks to a planet-friendly research centre, RHS Hilltop – The Home of Gardening Science.

We will be shown the vital work being done to help future-proof our planet and learn all about the Society’s ground-breaking research. Discover fruit and veg of all shapes and sizes in the World Food Garden.

The Old Laboratory is now open as a museum and is well worth a visit after our tour and in your own time. It represents a very significant moment in Wisley’s history providing an integrated visitor journey that links the past to the present (the ever changing garden) and the future (RHS Hilltop and advancing horticultural science).

If you wish to visit the ‘Old Laboratory’ you will need to book a time slot for yourself on arrival at the gardens and before our tour.

By making heritage more visible in the Old Laboratory visitors will understand that Wisley is and has always been about experimentation and discovery, with science at the very heart of what they do: it’s a living laboratory, workplace, school, scientific research establishment and a visitor attraction all in one.

The gardens and Hilltop are accessible for those in a wheelchair and with mobility challenges.  Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are available to hire but must be booked in advance.  Please indicate in the comments box if you would like us to reserve one for you.

No dogs are allowed.

Members may wish to purchase refreshments (at their own expense) on arrival or after – but must be ready to meet by the main entrance at 10.30. Members of the RHS will be asked to present their membership card for scanning.

We appreciate that some SHS members are also members of the RHS – therefore the cost of this event has been priced accordingly as follows

Option 1 – SHS members who are RHS members £12

Option 2 – SHS members who are not RHS members £22

Option 3 – non SHS members who are RHS members £15

Option 4 – non SHS members who are not RHS members £25

Please tick the appropriate option when booking.

The booking cost includes a donation to RHS Wisley helping scientific research to improve the natural environment in a changing climate.
