Walk the North Downs Way – CANCELLED

29th September 2017, 10:00 - 16:30

Enjoy a walk along this beautiful and interesting section of the North Downs way with the NDW Trail Manager Peter Morris, our Society Chairman Chris Howard and Pete Lambert from Experience Guildford.

This 12.5 mile walk follows in the footsteps of Pilgrims along the North Downs Way National Trail. Through the sandy tracks of Chantries Wood, climbing to the Church of St Martha on-the Hill with glorious views across the Tillingbourne Valley. Onwards to Newlands Corner where Agatha Christie staged her disappearance in the 1930’s and across the scarp above Silent Pool and the Albury Estate. Through the chalky grass slopes of Netley Heath and St Barnabas Church on Ranmore Common and into the vineyards of Denbies with Box Hill above. Bring a packed lunch or eat at Newlands Corner Visitor Centre.  For the return, use Box Hill & Westhumble or Dorking Deepdene Train Stations, or bus 32 from Dorking train Station.

Guildford’s Walking Festival is now in its 11th year.  It is run entirely by volunteers and involves many local organisations and charities that all support this event to celebrate the wonderful walks around Guildford and some of the history and other interesting things happening around the area.  There is one short, one medium and one long walk every day for the whole of September.  Further info on www.guildfordwalkfest.co.uk.

Meet the team at Shalford Park Playing Fields Car Park GU4 8AA, a short walk from Guildford centre Bus and Train stations at 10 am. It will take the whole day to finish between 4 – 5pm in Denbies Vineyard, RH5 6AA.

For more details contact Peter Morris, North Downs Way Trail Manager via email: peter.morris@kentdowns.org.uk or phone: 07920792338.
