Exploring a 5 mile section of Fox’s Way around Guildford

13th September 2019, 09:15 - 13:45

Join our Vice President, Chris Howard and Richard Fox, who created The Fox Way, to explore part of the loop around Guildford from Clandon to Shere, as part of the Guildford Walking Festival.

We will start from Guildford railway station and take the 9.37am train to Clandon. We will walk a section of The Fox Way, which is a 39 mile circuit of walks around Guildford. Enjoy this picturesque 5 mile section of The Fox Way, taking us through Clandon Regis Golf Club up onto the North Downs, with fine views towards London, along the North Downs Way before dropping down to Silent Pool and Sherbourne Pond. From the Catholic Apostolic Church in Albury we take an attractive route across fields to the historic village of Shere, with time to explore its old houses, shops, church and pubs.

You can see the route at www.thefoxway.com or the latest edition of the Ordnance Survey Map no. 145. At the end of the walk you can either return to Guildford by bus, or take a train from Gomshall Station or organise someone to pick you up from Shere.

Please bring a packed lunch, water, rainwear and stout walking shoes.

Length of walk: 5 miles

The event is free and open to all reasonably fit walkers.
